Join Us

The orchestra is currently open for new members, including non-players for volunteer opportunities available within our committee. Please contact us for more information.

New Players

We welcome new players. If you are currently playing or are a lapsed player keen to start up again, then please get in touch.

The guideline standard for being a member of the County Kildare Orchestra is ability at Grade 5 and above. Some previous experience of playing in an orchestra will be helpful but it is not a requirement.

Auditions are very informal and (we hope!) quite relaxed. We generally have auditions in early September but we occasionally take players at other times of the year, so please do get in touch if you would like to join us.

County Kildare Orchestra is an over-18s orchestra.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are every two or three weeks, always on a Sunday, from 1.45pm to 6.00pm. A rehearsal schedule is circulated to members at the start of each term.

We hold most of our rehearsals at venues in and around Cellbridge.

Commitment

We are passionate about playing great classical music and we really enjoy our time together. We appreciate team work, professionalism, value for our audience and we take personal pride in our achievements.

We expect players to commit to attending all rehearsals, but do appreciate that this is not always possible. Members are asked to contact their section leader as soon as they know they are unable to make a rehearsal.

As a member of the Orchestra, you would be expected to:

  • ensure you are organised for rehearsal - print and bring your music

  • contact us if you cannot come to a rehearsal

  • be punctual to rehearsals and concerts

  • be proactive and positive, learn from your mistakes, take pride in what we can achieve together

  • inform yourself of Orchestra announcements by checking the website and/or Facebook page

  • communicate with the Committee if you have any difficulties

  • and of course, practice your music!
